Here are some shocking things about aging that will leave you surprised

We can all generally tell an older person from a younger one. Yes, there are instances of some incredibly youthful looking people knocking on their 70s, but for the most part we’re able to estimate accurately. What gives it away? Wrinkles immediately jump to mind. The skin, after being battered from the elements for many years, is a sure sign of aging.

We know that as we get older, maintaining a youthful complexion get’s more difficult. However, what else happens as we age? Is there anything that might surprise us? There is, according to the Huffington Post, who have put together a little list for us to explore:

1. Hair relocates; who knew?

Yes, men — and often women — go bald as they age. According to the American Hair Loss Association, by age 35, two-thirds of men experience some hair loss. By 50, about 85 percent of men have significantly thinner hair. Among those who lose hair, 40 percent are female.

But aging also brings with it hair growth in places you don’t really want there to be. Menopause — and certain hormone replacement products you take to beat back its symptoms — can cause facial hair to grow on women. Let’s face it: Thick black chin hairs and a coarse mustache are no friends of womankind.

Upkeep certainly changes as we get older! Although I wouldn’t be too upset if growing a more masculine mustache became easier. Check out the full post for the other surprises waiting for you down the line.
